Ketimpangan Humanisasi, Liberasi, dan Transendensi dalam Praktik Komunikasi Profetik Santri

Abstract

This study examines the problems of prophetic communication in scheduled short-sermon (kultum) activities among female university students residing at Al-Maziyah Area, Al-Hasyimiyah Region, Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. The analysis focuses on communication barriers, their underlying causes, the implementation of humanization, liberation, and transcendence, and institutional responses to these barriers. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with administrators, mentors, and female students involved as speakers and audiences, and activity documentation. Data were analyzed interactively through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation were used to strengthen credibility. The findings reveal four major problems: speaking anxiety and limited self-confidence, sermon materials that remain general and insufficiently contextualized, one-way communication that restricts dialogue, and limited preparation time and communication training. The three prophetic values are implemented unevenly. Transcendence is the strongest dimension because Qur'anic verses and hadith are consistently used as religious references, while humanization and liberation remain less developed due to limited interaction, message depth, and delivery skills. The study argues that routine sermon practice does not automatically constitute prophetic communication. Structured public-speaking development, stronger content preparation, feedback mechanisms, and a more dialogical sermon design are required. The study contributes an integrated mapping of communication problems through the three prophetic dimensions and clarifies the relationship between communicator competence, activity design, and the quality of prophetic value actualization in pesantren settings.
